El Charro is was established in 1922, making it The Nation’s Oldest Mexican Restaurant, run by the same family! As they like to say, “We are not the best because we are the oldest. We are the oldest because we are the best!” Not only do they have a vast, delicious menu, but they cater to many different dietary needs, such as gluten free and vegetarian. They use 100% cage free, all natural chicken, using local and natural ingredients whenever possible. Make sure to save room for one of their delicious desserts, many featuring local vanilla bean ice cream. If you can’t choose one, try the Dessert Sampler Trio.

Elvira’s is nestled in the heart of the Downtown area. It has a second location in Tubac if you were planning on hitting the road for an adventure. The restaurant features many delicious and unique items. One of the fan favorites is the mole. They offer a variety of tacos, from pork to chicken and fish. The service is friendly and helpful. The décor is breathtaking.

Owners Patricia and Ron opened Penca in 2013. They offer traditional Mexican cuisine, mixed with the influence of Spanish and French flavors. Start your meal off with delicious, home made tortilla chips and flavorful salsa. The service is outstanding, enhancing the entire dining experience. The food is creative and beautifully presented. Make sure to try one of their delicious Sangria’s. Buy it by the jar, because a glass won’t be enough!
